Dad is doing ok. He is depressed but I can't blame him. He has been in the hospital for a long time and there is nothing to keep his mind off everything.
Even though dad would probably disagree he is getting better treatment since I had a long talk with the charge nurse. Dad hates the fact that someone doesn't come as soon as he calls for them or that they can't do what he wants when he wants it. He gets grumpy. But again, who can blame him.
I went and got him one of those portable DVD players and a few cheap movies. I hope that that will help him to pass the time. He is not interested in the TV so I thought some movies might do him good.
Dad complained to the doctor about not getting physical therapy. He has been getting some but it being the weekend they haven't worked with him. The doctor promised dad that first thing in the morning they would start doing intensive physical therapy with him. We will have to wait and see just how much he gets and how often he will get it.
I told dad that if he was to come home when his time is up there he had to be strong enough to get out of the bed and a couple steps to a wheelchair. I even wrote the goal for him on the board they have in the room. And his date for that goal: June 4
Medically dad is doing really good. He is feeding himself and eating everything they bring him. His blood pressure is good at tad high at times but good. The wound looks good (for what it is), he is still getting some nutrition through the feeding tube and I guess will continue until the doctors feel he is eating enough to get all his nutrition.
Keep those prayers going up for dad and me.
I gave you his new room number? Room 6205. Feel free to visit him. It would be good for him. Mail is also good.
Kathy
