Just got home from seeing dad this morning. He is....well about the same.
Dad started running a slight fever last night but evidently that was expected.
Today I found out that they have been testing dad's sugar every 4 hours. Didn't know they were doing that. While I was there it was something like 174 which is high but not really high. The nurse said it could be coming from all the stress on his body and the nutrition that has been going into his IV's. Nothing to worry about at this time.
The vent. I am learning more and more and my brain is finally starting to grasp some of what the numbers are and mean. The oxygen setting on the vent is how much oxygen he is getting from it. The lower the number means he is getting less from the machine and more on his on. That is why that number needs to go down from 100 to 50 or 40. There is another machine that measures how much oxygen is going through his body. You have probably had it done to you, that little white thing they clip on one of your fingertips? The higher the number on that machine the better. Dad is at around 92 or so right now.
I'm still struggling to remember what the "PEEP" is but I think it is the moisture in his lungs. I'll look it up on line sometime.
You are up to date on dad for now. Any changes or if I just feel a need to get stuff off my chest I will be sure to post here.
Keep the prayers going up.
Kathy
