If dad is in the hospital long enough I may learn enough to be able to explain some things to you. I was talking to his nurse this afternoon and got information in a way that I kind of understand.
Oxygen. We need it to live. If you healthy you are breathing in something like 25% oxygen. Dad being on the ventilator they started him out 100% oxygen. The goal is to get that number down to 50% or better 40% oxygen. I think that's right. That is what I understood the nurse to say.
Now I have to get a better grip on that "PEEP" thing. I wasn't going to do research on the internet -- afraid I'd find out stuff I don't want to know -- but I am heading that way I think. The more I understand the more I will share with you.
