Friday April 17

Either I was told wrong or I misunderstand what the nurse told me about dad yesterday. They are NOT taking him totally off the ventilator today. What they are doing is taking him off the ventilator and putting him on oxygen for 4 hours twice a day. I don't know how many days they will do this before they take him off the ventilator. They want to give him (his lungs) some rest. They feel that right now he needs it. But to be on just oxygen for 4 hours twice a day is an improvement.

Dad does NOT like being touched. The look he had on his face when the nurse messed with his blood pressure cuff. And I got a LOOK when I touched his arm to say hello. I am not sure why he is doing this.

I THINK I saw dad mouth the words "I Love You" to me. I am going to believe that is what he said.

Most of the swelling dad has is gone. His feet are back to normal and his hands are close - well as close as they have been since all this started. They aren't giving him as many fluids as before so that is helping.

While I was there dad got another unit of blood. His blood isn't making (replacing) the red blood cells as fast as it should. I am told this isn't unusual considering all dad has been going through.

Keep those prayers going up for dad and me.
Don't forget prayers for Aunt Betty also.

Kathy
