rehab day 32

Yesterday dad started "walking" in his wheelchair. He sits in the wheelchair and instead of using his hands to turn the wheels he uses his feet to move the chair -- sort of walking while sitting. I think this is really going to help him get some strength back into his legs.]

Dad couldn't do part of his physical therapy this morning because his blood pressure was too low. Too low? Yup. It came back up and he was able to walk some this afternoon. I talked to the nurse about dad's blood pressure and he had already faxed Dr S about it (as dad's blood pressure had been low on several occasions recently) and Dr S said to stop dad's blood pressure medicine for a couple of days to see what happens.

Anything else.......Thanks to the wound vac dad's wound is getting smaller. When he first got to Silas Creek Manor the wound was 19 cm long it is now 16 cm (which if I used this conversion table correctly that is 7.48 inches down to 6.30 inches). I am amazed at how the wound is healing and getting smaller (with the help of the wound vac ).

Dad also sat in the wheelchair and shaved himself today - the first time since he got sick way back in March. Great news huh?

Keep those prayers going up for dad and me.

Kathy
