Monday April 13

They have cut way down on dad's pain medicine. It was at 500 and now it is 150. The doctor said that dad really shouldn't be in any real pain now and he needs to wake up so that is one reason for the big cut in the medicine.

Today the surgeon came in and changed the feeding tube dad has and left orders for the nurses to start feeding him through that. Because the feeding tube goes directly into his stomach and there is the trachea in his throat there is no worry about him throwing up or anything like that.

Because they are finally actually using the feeding tube the tube down his nose was taken out today also.

Antibiotics have been stopped. Dad is still on a drip for his blood pressure though.

The doctor said dad is improving and is better than last week. Dad has turned a small corner. However the doctor said it would be summer before dad would be home. Summer. That's a long time away from now.

Dad still isn't totally awake. He gets agitated easily at voices or touches. Hopefully with the cut back on pain medicine he will start to become more awake and aware of what is going on around him.

Keep those prayers going up for dad and me.
Heard Aunt Betty is out of the hospital, but keep the prayers up for her.
