Dad has been having a bad day. Therefore I have been having a bad day.
Dad's blood pressure has been running high. Last time I checked it was staying between 170 and 190. When I was at the hospital it would go up to 211 and come down only to go up again.
The fever is back. Nurse P said they weren't sure why he is running a fever so they took cultures from several areas and sent them to the lab. Won't have the results for several days.
That darn feeding tube (that I allowed them to put in) is leaking again. Nurse P showed Dr B. Dr B says you can't switch out the tube for 10 days after insertion. Hasn't been that long yet. Maybe it just needs to come out? They haven't used it for anything but draining and now they have the tube down dad's nose again.
Today I found out that dad does have MRSA in his lungs and in his wound. I thought this to be a big problem but I guess it isn't what I had pictured in my head. But it can be very serious.
I just feel like I don't know all that is going on, getting information isn't hard IF you ask the right questions to the right person. Dr B is a great doctor but he doesn't offer up much information. I am going to try to talk to him tomorrow. He does rounds in the mornings and is in surgery the rest of the day. He isn't dad's only doctor. There is the ICU doctor -- that rotates every week and a lung doctor that works with the respiratory therapist, and I even briefly spoke to an infections disease doctor last week sometime.
Keep those prayers going up for dad and me.
Pray for Aunt Betty who is in the hospital now also.
Kathy
